About the Project
Transformational Tales: Literacy For Life Transformational Tales: Literacy For Life is a growing collection of stories shared by young people who use AAC about what reading and writing mean in their lives. We believe the most powerful insights come directly from young people themselves — in their own words, voices, and preferred ways of communicating.
We wish to gather the voices young people who are non-speaking and considered to have severe or profound learning disabilities or autism. This project intends to discover the meaning and impact of literacy on the lives of young people who are non-speaking.
There is little formal research that collects the views and opinions of young people who are non-speaking. We believe that their voices should be amplified and heard by society.
Please help us to gather ‘Transformational Tales’ and highlight the need for ‘Literacy for Life’.
Teach Us Too are working with experienced SEND teacher, consultant and researcher Dr. Sarah Helton to undertake this project.
Participation in this project can be initiated by educational settings, families or the young person themselves.
