What do we mean by ‘Exposure to Text’?

Exposure to text encompasses regular, inclusive, accessible & meaningful opportunities to interact with written language in various forms, including books, signs, labels, print in stories (including multi-sensory opportunities), and environmental print.

Exposure to text strategies should be embedded to familiarise learners with the visual features and conventions of written language, promoting print awareness and literacy development. By immersing learners in a text-rich environment, we stimulate their interest in reading, foster language development, and lay the foundation for lifelong literacy.
