My name is Karan Vickers-Hulse and I have a background in primary school education. Having been a Deputy Head teacher and acting Head teacher, I made the move to Higher Education six years ago and I am currently Undergraduate Programme Leader for Initial Teacher Training at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol.

One of my roles is to manage the SEN(D) provision for the trainees which involves organising a conference annually. Teach Us Too reached out to UWE as they are keen to make sure that trainee teachers have a good understanding of SEN(D). Consequently, Jonathan; his mother and Sarah travelled to UWE Bristol and presented to 300 undergraduate and postgraduate trainee teachers.

This opportunity has allowed trainees to reflect on their own thoughts and ideas around inclusion and equity and generated some thoughtful discussion and reflections on the key role that teachers play in meeting the needs of all learners.
