We had a fantastic day on Saturday 2nd June speaking at the inaugural FestABLE event at National Star College in Cheltenham. A first of its kind, this informative day was designed as a ‘festival of specialist learning’. We were honoured to join an impressive line up of guest speakers and very much enjoyed the festival feel accompanied by glorious sunshine!
We shared the story of our founder, Jonathan Bryan. His desire for an academic education and his battle to achieve this. Our message was echoed by other contributors: a child should not need to be removed from school to receive an education!
Judging by the support in the room on Saturday there are many others who feel the same way. We will continue to spread the message that professionals must look beyond labels and assume competence.
Echoing the words of the keynote speaker Bob Reitemeier CBE and chief executive of I CAN, we must ask one question of our children’s teachers: what are your aspirations for my child?
It is only then that we will understand whether we are on the same page and how much support will be on offer to enable our children to fulfil their potential.
